I offer 50 and 80 minute counselling appointments for adult individuals, and 80 minute sessions for groups of adults. I do not provide couples counselling / romantic relationship counselling.
In special circumstances, I may see youth clients who are under 18. If you feel I would be a uniquely good fit for a particular youth client, please reach out directly.
Sessions are held by video or phone, and I work from a private home office. -
Getting started is simple. Click the Book Now button for the scheduling page, and choose a free 15 minute meet and greet appointment (“New Client Consultation”).
In our 15 minute phone or video call, I will tell you more about myself as a therapist and my policies. I will ask a bit about you and your goals for therapy (it is okay if you’re not sure), and answer any questions you have. I request that prospective clients NOT decide whether they will book another appointment during our meet and greet, because there should never be any pressure to do. -
Current fees are always available on the scheduling page—click the Book Now button to review.
Please note, I cannot direct bill. If your insurance plan covers Canadian Certified Counsellors, you will be able to submit receipts for reimbursement.
A limited number of sliding scale appointments are available specifically for Black and/or Indigenous trans or two-spirit clients who face financial barriers to accessing counselling. If you fall within this description, please reach out to me directly. -
A typical session might start with me inquiring about something we talked about last time, then us working together to hone in on what is most salient today, touching into hard feelings & sensations within our safe container, and uncovering new insights or ways of seeing things.
There is usually some laughter! I often come up with original diagrams/doodles to explain a concept on the fly. I like to end sessions by providing recommendations for media or resources.Depending on a client’s specific circumstances, we may focus on:
establishing and maintaining safety (containment work)
processing past experiences (excavator work)
confronting and resolving patterns (foundation work)
integration and growth (building work).
My goal is for what we work on in session to have an impact on your everyday life outside of therapy.

I do not provide diagnostic services or therapeutic interventions for neurodivergence, mental health conditions, or psychiatric illness. What I do offer is emotional support for clients to process their lived experiences of seeking or receiving a diagnosis, psychiatric treatment, etc.

Specific approaches depend on a client's needs. I am most informed by humanistic and systems theories, incorporating strengths-based and somatic practices. My perspective as a counsellor is foundationally trauma-informed. I also draw from conflict theory, feminist therapy, parts work, and attachment theory.
The purpose of these approaches is to create an effective therapeutic alliance, where over time I can develop my understanding of my client as a unique individual inhabiting a particular subject position, kinship network, and geopolitical context.

My clients are very diverse. As a queer Black covid-cautious therapist, many of my clients—but certainly not all—are some combination of queer, trans, racialized, or disabled.
My clients are typically people who value equity and believe in justice. They may be grappling with complex feelings about themselves, their relationships, and the world. I often work with people who are experiencing moral distress in the workplace or navigating political grief.
I work with the impacts of medical or surgical trauma on both patients or providers.
My approach to therapy is often a good fit for clients who are seeking purpose in community, solidarity, or activism, but who are not sure of their role in that work.
